Though usually easy to diagnose, they can sometimes present with symptoms that may be difficult to diagnose without a thorough physical evaluation and proper diagnostics. Also though small fistulas can be treated easily and may not require surgical intervention, certain larger fistulas may need a multidisciplinary team and complex surgery.
