A Gastroenterologist is a physician who is trained and experienced to treat of ailments of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. You can consult one if you are having a problem in your esophagus, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, gallbladder colon and rectum, bile ducts and liver.

Get ready for your appointment before going to a doctor’s office. These tips may help:

Stay Calm: Don't allow the anxiety to get to you. It is good that you are taking your first step towards getting the treatment, so stay positive and if you need you can try deep breathing or meditation to make you calm.

Make a symptom journal. Your doctor is going to ask you a lot of questions about your problem. So, you should be prepared with details regarding what you’re experiencing, when you’re experiencing it, how long you’ve been experiencing these symptoms and what may make it better.

Compile a personal health history. Apart from your symptoms, the doctor will want to know a lot about your medical history. Write down as much as you can so you won’t forget during your meeting with the doctor. Prepare a list of:

  • any medication you take
  • any other ailments you’ve been diagnosed with
  • recent changes, like stress, weight loss or gain
  • the family history of similar conditions
  • any allergies, especially food allergies you have

Take a collection of your recent medical tests: carry your latest blood tests and imaging tests like X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, and CT scans with you.G et reports of any other underlying conditions like diabetes, thyroid etc.
