Proctology is a branch of medicine that deals with the structure and diseases of the anus, rectum, and sigmoid colon. The sector of surgery that deals with diseases of the rectum and colon are proctology surgical medicine. Coloproctology involves traditional methods of treatment and minimally invasive surgeries.

Common diseases that may be treated by a proctologist include:

Fiber optics is inserted in the body to identify the exact body problems with the help of proctology tools. Some devices are inserted by making a small hole in the body. Small Video camera provides the inside view to detect the exact problem.
