Mommy Makeover

"Mommy makeover" refers to a specialized grouping of body contouring procedures; performed together to recover the physical changes that occur after pregnancy. The aim of a mommy makeover is to bring back the shape and appearance of a woman's body after childbearing. Women notice many changes in their bodies after pregnancy. There are many areas of the body that get changes, like breasts, abdomen, waist, genitalia, and buttocks. A mommy makeover is usually performed as a single stage procedure. There are various procedures used to perform a mommy makeover:

Breast lift and augmentation: Generally women require having a breast lift after childbirth. This is because, during milk production, the breasts expand and contract very dramatically. Usually, a woman goes up several cup sizes, and drop back down again once her baby is done breastfeeding. As the skin must stretch to accommodate all of this milk, most women have eventually left with flatter, saggier breasts that need surgical lifting. Sometimes, women also observe that their breasts are smaller than they once were after breastfeeding is done, which need the combined lift and augmentation surgery.

Liposuction: or removal of fat through a minimally-invasive tube instrument is generally done prior to tummy tuck surgery to remove fat deposits from the abdomen. Liposuction may be done to remove fat deposits in other areas of the body also like thighs and hips.

Tummy Tuck: During tummy tuck surgery, a long incision is made along your bikini line, allowing your surgeon to pull down and tighten your skin and muscles. At times, if upper abdominal tightening is also required, a second incision will be made near your belly button. In both cases, your loose skin will be removed and any muscle damage will be repaired.

Labiaplasty: Occasionally a woman's labia minora stretches significantly during childbirth. This may cause flaps of the labia minora to protrude beyond the protective labia majora. A labiaplasty can be done to correct this problem. In a labiaplasty, a plastic surgeon removes excess skin from the labia minora, then stitches the area closed again. When the woman has healed, her labia again will be functional and protected by the labia majora.
